Ascot and Tote Join Forces to Enhance British Horse Racing Wagering

The Ascot Racecourse and Tote have partnered for a five-year period to enhance pari-mutuel wagering on British horse racing. This alliance will prioritize the expansion and backing of the World Pool project.

Commencing on January 1st, 2024, this joint effort seeks to elevate the status and caliber of races held at Ascot. All wagers placed through Ascot, whether in person via “Bet with Ascot,” remotely using the Tote’s online platform, or through other wagering providers, will contribute to a unified, larger pool, substantially augmenting its available funds.

This initiative builds upon the achievements of the World Pool, which has already tripled off-track betting handle from UK and Irish patrons on Ascot races since 2020, accompanied by a 22% surge in global wagering.

Ascot has played a key role in the World Pool’s expansion. Royal Ascot’s inclusion in 2019 set the stage for a worldwide pool encompassing operators from 28 nations, significantly boosting liquidity.

In 2023 alone, 17 British and Irish racing dates were incorporated into the World Pool, generating heightened revenue and media rights worth for the horse racing sector. This collaboration promises more consistent pools and potentially greater payouts for those placing bets.

The Ascot racing venue anticipates collaborating with fellow UK tracks and the Tote wagering organization. In the year 2024, they will be partnering with the Hong Kong Jockey Club in a significant alliance. Their shared objective is to elevate the international horse racing sector and guarantee its ongoing prosperity.
