A new report from BettorOff revealed that nearly 50% of US sports enthusiasts intend to gamble on the forthcoming FIFA World Cup.
The compelling discovery is that 18% of participants will be placing bets on soccer for the very first time. Even more encouraging for sportsbooks is that almost 75% of those polled shared their intention to increase their soccer betting even after the World Cup ends.
The research was carried out in 21 US states, in addition to Washington D.C., all jurisdictions where sports wagering is permitted. More than 1,500 self-proclaimed adult sports fans were surveyed.
Additional significant insights from the survey encompass:
* Almost two-thirds of enthusiasts intend to wager a maximum of $200 throughout the tournament, which spans from November 20th to December 18th.
* Over 25% of respondents stated they plan to bet on every single game, while over half will concentrate their wagers on particular teams. National pride was apparent as 13% only intend to bet on matches featuring Team USA.
* Time zone discrepancies don’t seem to be a major obstacle for US bettors. A remarkable 79% of those surveyed indicated they would place bets on matches even if they couldn’t view them live.
FIFA approximated that the total global betting volume for the 2018 World Cup reached an astounding $146 billion. It’s crucial to remember that at that juncture, only three US states (Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey) provided legal sports gambling, and even then, it was largely confined to physical venues.
“There’s a thrilling convergence of escalating interest and broadened access when it comes to the World Cup,” remarked Alex Dubin, CEO and Founder of BettorOff.
The remarkable surge in popularity of professional football within the United States, coupled with the expansion of digital wagering platforms, suggests that this global championship will be a landmark occasion for enthusiasts and gamblers nationwide.”
