The Danish gaming industry is flourishing! During the initial two months of 2022, overall gaming income surged to 1.57 billion Danish kroner, a 16% increase compared to the corresponding timeframe in the previous year.
This remarkable expansion was driven by a revival in physical casinos and slot machines, which faced challenges in early 2021. Although online wagering and gaming experienced a minor decline, their overall results remained favorable.
Notably, February 2022 witnessed a slight decrease in online earnings compared to the preceding year. Nevertheless, this was more than compensated for by the exceptional performance of slot machines, which generated a staggering 109 million Danish kroner – nearly five times the sum earned during the same interval last year!
Denmarks gaming industry experienced a substantial upswing in the current year, with internet-based wagering at the forefront. While the corresponding timeframe in the previous year yielded zero income, this year witnessed a remarkable surge exceeding 40,000% expansion.
Conversely, brick-and-mortar casinos were entirely non-operational in January of 2022 owing to persistent COVID-related limitations. They made a robust comeback in February, generating a commendable 31 million DKK. Both land-based casinos and gaming establishments encountered considerable closures throughout 2021 due to the pandemic, accounting for the stark disparity in revenue figures.
