Aristocrat Leisure Limited, an Aussie firm, declared that its income for the financial year 2021 hit 47.4 billion Australian dollars. This marks a 14.4% rise from the preceding year.
The company’s digital income, which is the main contributor to its overall income, reached 24.7 billion Australian dollars in the financial year ending September 30, 2021. The digital business saw a strong performance, expanding by 4.6% year-over-year. This expansion was driven by the success of Aristocrat’s mobile gaming operations.
Aristocrat runs seven of the top 100 mobile games in the US market and has consistently been among the top five mobile game publishers in Western markets.
Income in the Americas region increased by 33.4% to 18.2 billion Australian dollars. This growth was driven by an increase in the number of gaming machines put in place in the region. In Australia and New Zealand, income reached 399.8 million Australian dollars, an increase of 42.5%. However, growth was hindered by venue closures in New South Wales and Victoria in the last quarter due to the pandemic.
The company refers to the region as “International Tier 3,” which includes the sale of slot machines in other global markets. This region generated income of 44.9 million Australian dollars, a decrease of 65.8% compared to 2020.
This decline was primarily attributed to land closures and operational limitations brought about by the COVID-19 outbreak, which resulted in a decrease in sales.
In terms of expenditures, unallocated costs for the fiscal year reached A$641.9 million, a 13.4% increase from the previous year. Design and development expenses totaled A$527.6 million, corporate costs amounted to A$112.0 million, and foreign exchange losses reached A$2.3 million.
Net profit after tax, attributable to shareholders of the parent company (excluding amortization of acquired intangible assets) for the period, amounted to A$864.7 million, representing an 81.4% increase from the previous year. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 43.0% to A$1.54 billion, resulting in a profit margin of 32.6%.
“The accomplishments and progress we have achieved this year are a testament to the successful implementation of our growth strategy,” stated Trevor Croker, Aristocrat’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.
“Through ongoing investment in exceptional products, talent, and capabilities, and further strengthening our business foundation, we have continued to gain market share and deliver above-average organic growth over the past year.”
At the close of the financial year, Aristocrat agreed to acquire Playtech for £2.7 billion in October. However, it faces competition in finalizing the deal, with Gopher Investments potentially poised to submit a counter-proposal.
Playtech also received an initial approach today (November 18) from JKO Play, which is led by Formula One team owner Eddie Jordan and Keith O’Loughlin.
The proposed acquisition of Playtech, announced by Aristocrat after the deadline, once again shows our dedication to quickening the execution of our plan through purchases that add value, especially when we can bring new skills and access significant growth opportunities.
We are focused on securing the necessary approvals and anticipate the acquisition to be finished in the second quarter of this year.
He stated that the company is entering its 2022 fiscal year with strong operational momentum, business resilience, and a commitment to continuing to accelerate its growth strategy through organic investment and acquisitions.
